The holidays are upon us and with that, big feasts are to be had. We gather around family, get invited to parties and events and at work we receive all kinds of goodies from clients and customers. At the end, we are left jolly but with excess weight. The average weight gain is between 7-12 lbs. although it doesn’t have to be that way. Here are a few tips and tricks you use to avoid the not-so-jolly post holiday regrets.
- Start your day with a big workout before a big meal. Do extra cardio to burn as many calories as possible.
- Try everything but in smaller amounts. You may eat anything but control your portions.
- If you’re invited to a party, don’t take leftovers home. But if you’re hosting, send the leftovers home with your guests.
- Weigh yourself at least once a week to keep your weight on check.
- Don’t starve yourself. Eat lighter meals before the feast. Starving yourself will lead you to overeat.
If you are traveling during the holiday, include these tips:
- Plan your trip ahead and checkout nearby gyms or parks.
- Take a few resistance bands with you. They are light and convenient to get a quick workout anywhere.
- Plan a routine and try to stick to it. Just because you are on a trip it doesn’t mean that you can’t workout or stick to your daily workout routine.
The holidays are fun but can often leave you feeling regretful of the health choices you’ve made. I hope these tips help you stay on track and help you begin the New Year with positive energy and a great outlook of what’s to come.
