GOAL SETTING
One of the fastest ways to get to where you want to be is by setting goals, yet so many of us have such an aversion to going through the process.  Why is that?  Well some have never learned how.  Those who have may have found it to be quite intimidating. We have been programmed from a very young age by our mothers, fathers, teachers and preachers, all meaning well, to be humble and stay in our lanes.
Things you probably heard growing up:
  1. "Money is the root of all evil.”  (so not true)
  2. “You’re too big for your britches”  (maybe my britches are just too small)
  3. “Rich people have no morals or values.” (I know some poor people…)
  4. “Who do you think you are?” (a badass!)
  5. “You’re not smart enough to be a doctor.” (that what school is for)
  6. “What will the neighbors think if they see you and that boy holding hands?”  (hmmm, I don’t know, maybe that we have limbs)
It’s no wonder that we grow up with limiting beliefs.  So here’s my advice, THINK BIG! After all, it’s the small thinking that’s got you where you’re at( I know, bad grammar). Don’t just THINK  IT and INK IT.
There are 7 different areas of life in which you may have a goal that you want to accomplish:
Health, Family, Career, Finances, Personal(play, spiritual, development), Relationships(partner, kids, friends, etc.), Community(contributions).
When you set a goal, it’s not just important to know “what" but also your “why”.  It needs to be juicy and have a purpose that moves you.  Setting goals using the SMART method seems to work well.  What are SMART goals? Glad you asked.  They are Specific, Measurable, Actionable, Relevant & Timed.  I like to add ER- Exciting and Rewarding as well.
Once you set your goals, you must review them with regularity, daily is best.  You can use a notebook or flashcards to keep in your briefcase or purse.  In addition, I suggest you create a vision board.  I am a huge fan of these boards.  You can cut out or print pics, phrases and words and paste or pin them. It’s actually a lot of fun and I’m not into scrap booking at all.  Put it in a place where you see it daily.  After all, what you think about, you bring about.
