Embracing Children. Inspiring Lives.
Every day, more than 20,000 Florida children live in uncertainty because it’s too dangerous to live at home. For these children, Children’s Home Society of Florida is here. On the front lines since 1902, Children’s Home Society of Florida is the oldest and largest statewide organization devoted to helping children and families. An advocate for children throughout the community, the organization serves more than 10,000 children and families throughout South Florida each year.
Services offered help break the cycle of abuse in families, heal the pain for traumatized children, guide teens to successfully transition into adulthood and create strong, loving families through adoption.
One of the organization’s many impactful programs is the McLamore Children’s Center in Miami, an emergency shelter for young victims of abuse and neglect. Siblings who can’t safely live at home often join the “family” at the Center for just one night until they can join a loving foster family. Other times, they may stay a bit longer until a more permanent home is found.
To become involved in our group homes such as McLamore, the organization invites members of the community to volunteer within the homes through its “Adopt a Group Home” initiative. To learn more, please contact Ryon Coote at 305-755-6566
